Fall 2024 Thesis 2nd Draft Submission and Evaluation Schedule
- 1. 2nd Draft Submission
- a. Submission period: Monday, November 18th – Wednesday, November 20th
- b. Submission place: GIT Office
- c. Eligibility: Students who have passed the preliminary evaluation
※ Students who did not pass the preliminary defense or were advised to defer the final defense will be eligible to present their thesis defense in the following semester. - ※ The final defense will only proceed for students who submit their 2nd draft during the designated period.
- If the 2nd draft is not submitted by the specified deadline, the defense will not be possible.
- d. Final Defense:
Monday, December 16th – Friday, December 20th (schedule varies by major)
- 2. Submission Documents (Required for both preliminary and final defenses)
- a. Thesis Plagiarism Check Report: 3 copies for Master’s / 5 copies for Doctoral
※ The report must be prepared according to the notice: "Notice of Mandatory Plagiarism Checks for Graduate - School Theses at the United Graduate School of Theology" (effective from the 2024-1 semester).

※ Request for upload to the academic portal will be made later: It is mandatory to personally keep a copy of the - plagiarism check result for your thesis.
- b. Preliminary Bound Copy: 3 copies for Master’s / 5 copies for Doctoral (Obtain a stamp from the office and submit them to the examination committee)
- c. Copy of the Cover Page of the Preliminary Bound Copy: 1 copy for the Administrative Office.
- d. Journal Publication Materials: Applicable only to Doctoral students; must be submitted once, either during the preliminary or final defense submission, with the advisor's signature on the cover page.
※ The draft and the Thesis Plagiarism Check Report should be submitted to the Administrative Office for verification. After verification, students must personally deliver these to each member of the examination committee (at least 1–2 weeks before the examination date).
※Important: For Doctoral students, the final defense can only proceed if the Journal Publication Materials (evidence of publication in a journal registered with the Korea Research Foundation or a candidate journal, or proof of publication of a professional academic book co-authored by no more than two people, or a professionally translated book co-translated by no more than two people) are submitted. This requirement applies to students admitted in the Spring semester of 2023 or later.
<How to Use CopyKiller (Campus)>
- 1. Access and log in to the Yonsei Portal System (Academic Link > Central Library) website.
- 2. Click on the "Research" tab in the top menu of the website.
- 3. Under the "Research Support" menu, click on "CopyKiller" to access the CopyKiller Campus website.
- After reviewing the "User Manual" in the upper right corner, click "Upload Document" to proceed with the plagiarism check.
- 4. Print the plagiarism check result report, sign the confirmation section by hand, and submit it to the office.
Please print and submit the "Summary View" (rather than Basic View or Detailed View).
※ Detailed Settings
- - In the document upload stage, set the [Plagiarism Check Settings] and [Plagiarism Criteria] as follows, leaving the other settings as default.
- - Plagiarism Check Settings: Include ‘quoted/cited sentences’ and ‘law/religious texts,’ exclude ‘table of contents/references.’
- - Plagiarism Criteria: Match 6 or more consecutive words, match 1 or more sentences.
<How to Use Turnitin>
- 1. Access and log in to the Yonsei Portal System (Academic Link > Central Library) website.
- 2. Click on the "Research" tab in the top menu of the website.
- 3. Under the "Research Support" menu, click "Turnitin" to access the Turnitin information page.
- 4. Review the instructions and Manual file provided on the information page, and proceed with the plagiarism check.
- After completing the check, download and print both the plagiarism report and the digital receipt from the final result screen (Document Viewer), and submit them to the office.
※Detailed Settings
- - When performing the similarity check, configure [Filters and Settings] as follows, leaving the other settings as default.
- - Include ‘quoted text,’ exclude ‘references.’
