제1조 (목적) Article 1 (Purpose)
본 내규는 본 원의 학칙 제6장 제29조에서 규정하는 Global Institute of Theology 프로그램(이하 GIT과정)을 운영하기 위한 세부사항과 그 절차를 정함을 목적으로 한다.
① The purpose of the Bylaws of the Global Institute of Theology is to stipulate the details and procedures for operating the Global Institute of Theology (hereafter referred to as GIT) prescribed in Article 29 of Section 6 of the School Regulation of the United Graduate School of Theology (hereafter referred to as UGST).
제2조 (과정 및 정원) Article 2 (Program and Recruitment)
GIT과정에는 본 원의 학칙 제1장 제3조에서 규정하는 신학석사과정(Th.M.) 및 신학박사과정(Ph.D.)을 둘 수 있으며, 외국인 학생은 정원 외로 한다. <개정 2023.3.1.>
GIT can offer a Master of Theology (Th.M.) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program as prescribed in Article 3 of Section 1 of the School Regulation of UGST, and foreign students may be admitted beyond the established quota <Amended on March 1, 2023>.
제3조 (준용) Article 3 (Application)
그밖에 이 내규에 규정하지 않은 사항은 본 원의 학칙 및 내규에 따른다.
Other matters not prescribed in these bylaws shall follow the School Regulation and bylaws of UGST.
제4조 (모집시기) Article 4 (Admissions Season)
GIT과정은 매년 1회에 걸쳐 신입생을 선발한다. 다만 해당 모집시기에 입학정원보다 적은 인원이 선발되었을 경우 그 다음 시기에 별도의 추가 모집이 가능하다.
GIT recruits new students once a year. However, additional recruitment can be conducted if a vacancy occurs during the admission period.
제5조 (입학자격) Article 5 (Qualifications)
제5조 (입학자격) GIT과정에 입학할 수 있는 자는 다음 각 항 중 하나에 해당된 자로서 본 원에서 실시하는 시험에 합격하여야 한다.
① 신학석사과정 (Th.M.)
・ 4년제 정규대학의 신학과 혹은 타 학과 졸업(예정)자 및 동등 이상의 학력이 있다고 인정되는 자로서의 외국인
・ 비영어권 외국인의 경우 영어 교과과정을 2년 이상 이수하였거나 TOEFL PBT 570점, CBT 230점, IBT 88점 또는 IELTS 평균 6.5점 이상의 영어성적을 보유하여야 한다. TOEFL 또는 IELTS는 제출일 기준 2년 이내에 취득한 것이어야 하며, TOEFL은 분야별 20점 이상, IELTS는 분야별 6.0점 이상 취득하여야 한다.
② 신학박사과정 (Ph.D.)
・ 국내외 대학원의 신학석사(Th.M.) 혹은 목회신학석사(M.Div.) 학위 수여(예정) 자 및 동등 이상의 학력이 있다고 인정되는 자로서의 외국인
・ 비영어권 외국인의 경우 영어 교과과정을 2년 이상 이수하였거나 TOEFL PBT 600점, CBT 250점, IBT 100점 또는 IELTS 평균 7.0점 이상의 영어성적을 보유하여야 한다. TOEFL 또는 IELTS는 제출일 기준 2년 이내에 취득한 것이어야 하며, TOEFL은 분야별 20점 이상, IELTS는 분야별 6.5점 이상 취득하여야 한다.
A person who can enter the GIT program must succeed in the entrance examination conducted by the school and satisfy one of the following eligibility requirements:
① Master of Theology (Th.M.)
・ Foreigners who graduated (or those expected to graduate) from the department of theology or other majors of a four-year regular university and who are deemed to have an equivalent or higher educational background.
・ Non-English speaking foreigners must have completed the English academic curriculum for more than two years or have a certified English test score above 570 TOEFL PBT; 230 TOEFL CBT; 88 TOEFL IBT; or 6.5 IELTS on average. The score of TOEFL or IELTS must have been acquired within two years of the date of application, and TOEFL scores must be above 20 points for each field and IELTS must be above 6.0 points for each.
② Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Theology
・ Foreigners who have (or those expected to have) a master's degree in Theology (Th.M.) or a master of Divinity (M.Div.) from domestic or overseas graduate schools and who are deemed to have an equivalent or higher educational background.
・ Non-English speaking foreigners must have completed the English academic curriculum for more than two years or have a certified English test score above 600 TOEFL PBT; 250 TOEFL CBT; 100 TOEFL IBT; or 7.0 IELTS on average. The score of TOEFL or IELTS must have been acquired within two years of the date of application, and TOEFL scores must be above 20 points for each field and IELTS must be above 6.5 points for each.
제6조 (정의) Article 6 (Definition)
“외국인”이란 고등교육법시행령 제30조 제7항에 의한 다음의 사람을 말한다.
1. 부모가 모두 외국인인 외국인
2. 외국에서 우리나라 초ㆍ중등교육과 대학교육에 상응하는 교육과정을 전부 이수한 재외국민 또는 외국인
The term "foreigner" is defined as the following individuals under Article 30-7 of the Enforcement Decree of the Higher Education Act:
1. Foreigners who are not of Korean nationality by birth
2. Overseas Korean nationals or foreigners who have completed their entire formal education outside Korea, including primary, secondary, and university education.
제7조 (지원구비서류) Article 7 (Required Documents)
GIT과정에 지원하고자 하는 자는 다음의 서류를 소정 기일 내에 제출하여야 한다.
① 입학지원서(소정 서식) 1부
② 영문이력서(C.V.) 1부
③ 사진 1매(최근 3개월 이내 촬영, 3cm × 4cm)
④ 여권 또는 외국인등록증 사본 1부
⑤ 대학(교) 및 대학원 졸업증명서 각 1부
⑥ 대학(교) 및 대학원 성적증명서 각 1부
⑦ 공인어학성적표(영어) 또는 이에 준하는 증빙서류 1부
⑧ 한국어능력시험 성적표 및 이에 준하는 증빙서류 1부 (해당자에 한함)
⑨ 추천서 2부 (해당자에 한함)
The applicant shall submit the following documents within the designated period to apply for the GIT program:
① Application form
② Curriculum vitae
③ 1 Photo (taken within the last 3 months, 3cm × 4cm)
④ A copy of passport or foreign registration card
⑤ Official degree certificate of undergraduate (graduate) school
⑥ Official transcript of undergraduate (graduate) school
⑦ Official English test scores or documents proving equivalent language proficiency in English
⑧ Official Korean language test scores or documents proving equivalent language proficiency in Korean (if applicable)
⑨ Two copies of recommendation (if any).
제8조 (수강과목) Article 8 (Coursework)
GIT과정의 수강과목은 소정의 교과과정에 의하여 개설하고 학생은 주임교수의 지시에 따라 수강과목을 선택한다.
GIT shall offer coursework according to the prescribed curriculum, and students shall follow the guidance of the Chair Professor when enrolling.
제9조 (지도교수) Article 9 (Academic Advisor)
GIT과정의 학생은 주임교수의 면담을 통해 전공분야에 대한 지도교수를 별도로 배정받을 수 있다.
GIT students may be assigned a separate academic advisor for their major field through an interview with the Chair.
제10조 (졸업요건) Article 10 (Graduation Requirements)
① GIT과정의 학생이 취득하여야 할 최저학점은 다음과 같다.

② GIT과정의 학생은 입학 시 본 원에 개설된 전공 중 하나를 선택하여야 한다.
③ GIT과정의 학생은 기초 한국어 강의를 6학점 이상 이수하여야 한다. 단, 별도로 정한 한국어능력시험 성적 및 이에 준하는 증빙을 제출하여 수강을 대체할 수 있다.
④ GIT과정의 학생은 주임교수의 허가를 받아 한국어로 개설된 전공과목에 대한 담당교수의 논문지도연구를 수행할 경우 최대 6학점까지 수료에 필요한 학점으로 가산할 수 있다.
② At the time of entrance, GIT students must choose one of the stipulated majors.
③ GIT students must complete at least 6 credits of Korean Language and Culture courses. However, students who submit an official Korean language test score or its equivalent may be exempt from earning these credits.
④ Under the permission of the GIT Chair, GIT students can acquire up to six credits of major subjects taught in Korean language through an independent research project supervised by their academic advisor.
제11조 (GIT연구지도) Article 11 (GIT Independent Study)
① “GIT 연구지도(Independent Study)”라 함은 GIT과정의 학생이 전공에 관해서 지도교수로부터 개별적으로 수행하는 연구를 말한다.
② “GIT 연구지도”는 GIT과정 내 전공과목으로 개설하며, 학점 단위는 3학점으로 한다.
③ “GIT 연구지도”를 이수하여 취득한 학점은 수료에 필요한 학점으로 가산할 수 있다.
④ “GIT 연구지도” 과목을 담당한 시간은 책임시간수에 산입한다.
① The term "GIT Independent Study" means a study conducted individually by GIT student under the guidance of an academic advisor.
② “GIT Independent Study” shall be offered as a three-credit major subject of the GIT curriculum.
③ Credits earned from “GIT Independent Study” can be acknowledged as the GIT graduation requirements.
④ The 3 credits of “GIT Independent Study” shall be admitted as required lecture hours.
제12조 (외국어시험) Article 12 (Foreign Language Examination)
GIT과정의 학생은 본 원에서 규정하는 외국어 시험 취득 요건을 기초 한국어 강의 6학점 이상 이수로 대체한다.
GIT student shall replace the requirements for fulfilling foreign language examinations prescribed in the UGST with the completion of six credits or above of Korean Language and Culture courses.
제13조 (종합시험) Article 13 (Comprehensive Examination)
① GIT과정에 정규등록이 되어 있는 원생으로서 3학기 이상 이수하고 30학점 이상 취득한 자는 종합시험에 응시할 수 있다.
② 시험과목
・ GIT 신학석사과정의 종합시험과목은 전공 2과목, 타전공선택 1과목이다.
・ GIT 신학박사과정의 종합시험과목은 전공 3과목, 타전공선택 1과목이다.
③ 삭제 <2022.11.9.>
④ 그밖에 종합시험에 대한 사항은 본 원의 학위수여 시행내규에 따른다.
① GIT student who has completed the three semesters or above and has earned more than 30 credits of the coursework can apply for the comprehensive examination.
② Examination Subjects
・ Subjects of Th.M. comprehensive examination consist of two majors and one elective.
・ Subjects of Ph.D. comprehensive examination consist of three majors and one elective.

④ Other matters not prescribed in these bylaws shall follow the School Regulation and bylaws of UGST.
제14조 (학위) Article 14 (Degree)
GIT과정의 논문심사에 합격한 자에게는 본인의 전공 분야에 준하여 다음과 같은 학위를 수여한다.
① 신학석사과정 (Th.M.)
・ (국문) Th.M. / Global Institute of Theology – 전공명
・ (영문) Th.M. in 전공명, Global Institute of Theology
② 신학박사과정 (Ph.D.)
・ (국문) Ph.D. / Global Institute of Theology – 전공명
・ (영문) Ph.D. in 전공명, Global Institute of Theology
Those who have passed the GIT thesis/dissertation examination shall confer the following degrees in accordance with their major field.
① Master of Theology (Th.M.)
・ (Korean) Th.M. / Global Institute of Theology - [major name in Korean]
・ (English) Th.M. in [major name], Global Institute of Theology
② Ph.D. in Theology (Ph.D.)
・ (Korean) Ph.D. / Global Institute of Theology - [major name in Korean]
・ (English) Ph.D. in [major name], Global Institute of Theology
제15조 (학위논문 제출 자격) Article 15 (Submission Qualification)
① 소정의 학점을 취득하고 학위논문 제출 자격시험에 합격한 자는 학위논문을 제출할 수 있다.
② 연합신학대학원 GIT 박사과정은 공히 학술지에 논문을 1편 이상 게재하여야 한다. 위 요건은 논문 본심사 이전에 증빙자료를 제출하여야 한다. (2023년 전기 입학생부터 적용한다) <신설 2023.3.1.>
① A person who has earned the prescribed credits and has passed the thesis/dissertation examination can submit his/her thesis/dissertation.
② GIT doctoral student shall publish more than 1 paper of research in academic journals. This criteria shall be fulfilled by submitting evidence of the achievement’s publication. (Applied from 2023 Spring Admissions)
제16조 (등록 및 휴학) Article 16 (Registration & Leave of Absence)
① GIT과정의 신학석사과정 학생은 최소 4학기를, 신학박사과정 학생은 최소 5학기를 정규 등록하여야 하며 등록금은 GIT 장학금으로 지급 받는다.
② GIT 장학금을 지급 받는 동안에는 휴학할 수 없음을 원칙으로 한다. 단, 질병, 임신, 출산 또는 만 8세 이하의 자녀 육아 등 상당한 이유로 휴학을 하고자 할 때는 사유서 또는 진단서를 첨부하여 매 학기 휴학 기간에 행정팀에 제출하여 원장의 허가를 얻어야 하며, 이는 휴학연한에 산입하지 않는다.
③ 학생의 총 휴학 기간은 재적 기간 동안 신학석사과정은 2년(4학기), 신학박사과정은 3년(6학기)를 초과할 수 없으며, 횟수는 제한하지 아니한다.
① To be eligible for a GIT scholarship, a student must be registered for at least 4 semesters in the Th.M. program and 5 semesters in the Ph.D. program.
② Generally, a GIT student cannot take a leave of absence while receiving a scholarship. However, if there are considerable reasons such as illness, pregnancy, childbirth, or taking care of children under the age of 8, the student must submit a statement or medical certificate to the administrative team to obtain permission from the Dean of UGST. If the reasons are accepted, the period of absence will not be counted towards the total period of a leave of absence.
③ The total period of absence for students must not exceed 2 years (4 semesters) for Th.M. and 3 years (6 semesters) for Ph.D. during the enrollment period. There is no limit to the number of leave of absence applications that can be made.
제17조 (주임교수 면담) Article 17 (Meeting with Chair Professor)
GIT 주임교수는 재학생들과 최소 월 1회 이상의 면담을 하여야 하며, 학생들은 학사 또는 유학 생활에 대한 상담을 주임교수에게 요청할 수 있다. GIT과정의 학생이 방학을 제외한 학기 중 상당한 이유로 출국을 하고자 할 때는 반드시 주임교수의 허가를 사전에 얻어야 하며, 남은 학사일정을 성실히 이행하여야 한다.
GIT Chair shall meet students at least once a month, and students can request the Chair to consult on their academic affairs or life of studying abroad. If GIT student intends to leave Korea for probable reasons during the semester except for vacation, he/she must obtain permission from the Chair in advance and faithfully follow the remaining academic schedules.
제18조 (장학금 종류 및 지급액) Article 18 (Types & Amount of Scholarships)
GIT과정의 학생에게 지급되는 장학금의 종류와 지급액은 다음과 같다.
① (GIT 장학금) GIT 신학석사과정 및 신학박사과정에게는 재학기간 중 소정의 장학금이 지급되며, 그 지급범위와 금액은 본 원에서 정하는 바에 따른다. <개정 2023.3.1.>
② (학생회 장학금) GIT 학생회를 위해 봉사하는 학생회장에게 장학금이 지급되며, 지급액은 본 원에서 자율로 정한다.
③ (조교 장학금) GIT과정의 학생은 본 원의 조교 장학금을 받을 수 없음을 원칙으로 한다. 단, 5학기 이상의 신학석사과정 또는 6학기 이상의 신학박사과정에 재학 중인 초과학기자 중 경제적 도움이 필요한 자는 조교 장학금을 신청할 수 있다.
The types and amounts of scholarships given to GIT students are as follows:
① (GIT Scholarship) GIT students in Th.M. and Ph.D. programs at GIT will be granted a prescribed scholarship during enrollment, and the scope and amount of each scholarship shall be autonomously planned by the school. <Amended on March 1, 2023>
② (Students Council Scholarship) The president of the GIT Students Council, who serves the GIT student body, will be awarded the considerable scholarship. The amount of payment shall be autonomously planned by the school.
③ (School Assistant Scholarship) Generally, GIT students shall not be able to receive the school assistant scholarships. However, those who are enrolled in the 5th semester or above of Th.M. and in the 6th semester or above of Ph.D. can apply for a school assistant scholarship in need of financial burdens.
부 칙 Additional Clause
(1) 본 시행내규는 연세대학교 연합신학대학원 운영위원회의 심의를 거쳐 2021년 3월 2일부터 시행한다.
(2) 본 개정내규(제2조, 15조, 제18조 개정)는 2023년 3월 1일부터 시행한다.
(3) 본 개정내규(제13조 개정)는 2022년 11월 9일부터 시행한다.
(1) These bylaws shall be effective from March 2nd, 2021, upon the review of the UGST steering committee.
(2) The amended bylaws (Article 2, 15, and 18) shall be effective from March 1st, 2023.
(2) The amended bylaws (Article 13) shall be effective from November 9th, 2022.
