Course enrollment Guidelines for the 2024 Fall semester
1. For New Students
Your student ID will be informed individually by GIT Office on August 14th. The initial password will be your date of birth (YYMMDD - e.g. 830816). Your student ID is a unique identifier that will be used for various purposes such as accessing university facilities, checking out library books, and more. Please keep your student ID information safe at all times. Upon arrival in Korea, you can apply for your official university identification card.
New students are encouraged to enroll in courses during the school orientation on Monday, August 19th, with guidance from the GIT Office and the Student Council.
If you cannot attend the orientation, please refer to the orientation booklet that will be distributed to new students within a week.
2. Course Enrollment- Available from Friday, August 16th to Thursday, August 22nd, 2024 (10:00 AM - 11:59 PM KST)
Please note that the course enrollment will be only available during the designated period. If you miss the period, there will be an add&drop period from Wednesday, September 4th to Friday, September 6th, 2024.
3. How to find the course information, timetable, and syllabus
Yonsei Portal (https://portal.yonsei.ac.kr/) > Language Change (ENG) > "Course Catalogue and Syllabus"

4. Important Notices
1) MUST READ if you are entering to the 4th semester or above
(Th.M.) TGZ7996 DIRECTED RESEARCH (TH.M.) - if you will NOT defend your thesis but continue your research for this semester
(Th.M.) TGZ7999 THESIS (TH.M.) - if you will defend your thesis during this semester and plan to graduate in February 2025
(Ph.D.) TGZ9996 DIRECTED RESEARCH (PH.D.) - if you will NOTdefend your dissertation but continue your research for this semester
(Ph.D.) TGZ9999 THESIS (PH.D.) - if you will defend your dissertation during this semester and plan to graduate in February 2025

2) GIT Graduation Requirement
A. Fulfill more than 30 credits (10 classes) as an academic coursework within three semesters.
B. Enroll in three ecumenical seminars in consecutive semesters. (Please do NOT forget to enroll in the Ecumenical Seminar!!)
TGZ6101 ECUMENICAL SEMINAR 1 (for students in the 1st semester)
TGZ6102 ECUMENICAL SEMINAR 2 (for students in the 2nd semester)
TGZ6103 ECUMENICAL SEMINAR 3 (for students in the 3rd semester)
C. Take two Korean language classes in the 1st and the 2nd semester. (* if you want to apply for the course waiver with a TOPIK score, please contact the GIT Office.)
TGU7002 KOREAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE (1) (for the 1st semester)
TGU7003 KOREAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE (2) (for the 2nd semester)
D. Take the online seminar of thesis writing and get a pass (P) mark within the coursework semesters.

3) Tuition Fee Payment - for those whose GIT scholarships have ended
Th.M. students in their 5th semester or higher or Ph.D. students in their 6th semester or higher must pay the tuition fee on their own.
The payment period for the extra semesters will be from 09:30 Tuesday, September 10th to 17:00 Thursday, September 12th, 2024.

The amount of the extra tuition fee depends on the number of credits which the student have registered.
